Blossoming Night Light
I’ve noticed that there are two kinds of night lights out there. Either they are too cute looking or they are too cheap looking. Fed up with trying to find a tasteful one for our bathroom–and finding zip–I decided to make my own. And you know what? I LOVE how it turned out!
What I used:
- A cheap (would you believe 85 cents), LED night light with a removable plastic shade, found on my local big box store
- A stem of small silk flowers (I used about 50 or so blossoms)
- A glue gun and glue sticks
What I did:
First I stripped all the blossoms off the stems.
Then I pulled off the goofy plastic shade…

and started gluing blossoms to it.

I kept the blossoms pretty close together, as you can see.
And here she is, all done and ready for illumination. Add a drop of essential oil onto the bulb and I’ll have a pretty blossom that smells good too.

This project is wonderful! I have to tell you, about 3 years ago I was looking for a nite lite with similar results to yours – cheap and/or ugly. I allowed myself to be swayed into buying a set of three from the hardware store on the say-so of one of the employees – a man. I should have known better as I’ve only met one man in my life who had great taste. (I think 99% of the male population is into cheap and garish.) Because I am frugal beyond belief they have been working for the past three years and will not die. Happy to say I also have all the supplies except for flowers I would like to use and they are on my shopping list. Cannot wait to try your super excellent idea. :0)
So glad you like it, Lura! Yeah, those cheap night lights seem to last forever!
I have the same nightlight. A bazillion of those same floral things from a wedding. Plus I’ve got a hot glue gun. I’m going to do this right now! Well after I collect the supplies! Thanks for the awesome idea!
You are VERY welcome! Don’t you just love it when you have all the supplies for a project on hand?!
Yes it took me maybe an hour or so to put it all together. It looks fantastic and I love it soo much. Perfect for my bedroom.
That’s GREAT!
