More Felt Method Soap Pump Cozies!
An alternative to my Christmas-y Method bottle cozy is this pattern, which has less-pronounced 1/4″ seam allowances. I had intended to use some waste canvas and back stitch some lettering on them, but when they were done, I loved them just as they were!
Anyhoo, here’s the list of materials you’ll need to make them:
- felt, I’d suggest the washable kind, which is available on the bolt at your fabric store right next to the wool stuff
- perle cotton
- DMC chennille needle (or sharp needle with large eye)
- pins
- the pattern, which is available on my Scribd page
And here’s the procedure:
Pin two of the felt pieces together, and using the perle cotton and needle, stitch them together using the blanket stitch and 1/4″ SEAM ALLOWANCES. If you don’t use 1/4″ seam allowances, the cozy won’t fit, so it’s best to take your time and check your allowance with a ruler or tape measure to keep on course.
Repeat with the other 3 other pieces, joining the first and last when you’re done.
(The pic above was done in navy felt with white perle cotton and the one below was make with white felt and black perle cotton.)
