Major League Loom Knitting

March 21, 2010

Someone I know is expecting twins, and it’s one of each! I thought I’d whip up a couple of baby hats for the occasion in the appropriate colors. I used this pattern (I added a few rows to the brim) and Vanna’s Choice Baby in Pink Poodle (I love that name) and Little Boy Blue. This pattern, whether a puff ball or not, needs some embellishment. The little lady’s hat was easy. I made a flower using the KK Flower Loom. The little gentleman’s was tricky however, as embellishing anything made for a little boy generally is. But then it occurred to me! We are gearing up for a very big season here where I live as our beloved Twins are taking to their brand new outdoor stadium. So, what better way to embellish this new little leaguer’s hat than with the Twin’s insignia? He is, after all, a twin!

To make it, I just crocheted a circle using one strand of worsted weight white with a H hook and then sewed a running stitch in the appropriate shape. I really like the way it turned out. I hope our ‘player to be named later’ does too.

VERY LOVELY and CHARMING and just perfect for both a boy and a girl! Really perfect and thanks for sharing it with loom knitters so we can go looming along and making baby hats too!
