How to Make a Lucky Shamrock Card

March 16, 2010

St. Patrick’s Day comes and goes, but wishing someone you love luck is always in season.  The fastest and easiest way to make a shamrock for a lucky shamrock card is to use your heart punch. That’s right, a heart punch! Here’s how you do it:

First get yourself a very green piece of medium to lightweight card stock about twice the width as your heart punch is wide.

Fold the paper  in half and then half again.

Place the folded paper into your punch, lining up the center fold with the tip of your heart punch.

Punch away! I use the ‘foot’ method for these cards, meaning, I place the punch on the floor and step on it. Hey, it works!

And ta-da!

If you fold the shamrock back into the heart shape and run it through a crimper, you’ll get a very cool effect. A button, a bit of decorative paper and some ribbon and a pre-printed message and you’re done.
