How to Make a Knitting Loom out of a Tin Can

I’ve recently jumped into the world of loom knitting. In my search for patterns, I stubbled across this ab-fab how-to on Loom Knitting Help. In it they tell us how to construct a loom out of a tin can and finish nails(!). It costs pennies to make–or maybe nothing if you have the finish nails on hand–and it’s completely customizable, as far as gauge goes. LOVE it!! Anyhoo, here are the supplies you’ll need to make one:

  • a tin can with the top and bottom removed
  • masking tape
  • measuring tape
  • pen or fine-tip marker
  • 1 1/2″ go 2 1/2″ finish nails
  • fabric tape

To see the entire tutorial, follow this link to a pdf.

I love the concept of Picture This! I can completely relate to clipping out dream interiors and using them for inspiration…or just salivating over them.

And Michelle, I would happily take your call!

I don’t really have a contact at HGTV.

This is the show we produced for Discovery years ago. Thought you might be interested in watching a short film: http://resourcemedia.com/Shows/pt/default.aspx

We don’t produce DIY or Home/Design Show at the moment, but will happily contact you if we do in the future : )

Thank you, Michelle! Coming from someone who works in media, that’s quite the compliment! Just one question…. do know anyone at HGTV who can hook me up? ;)

Interesting! I’ll have to try this out. Now if I can only get faster at my standard knitting and finish my current projects, I might actually find the time. Thanks!

    Hi Maven,

I’ve recently watched your video at YouTube while searching for some DIY ideas and I must say that you are one of the most talented and creative artists out there!

All of the ideas you introduced are simple, but the results are always elegant and amazing. You also are a great communicator and a natural presenter. You explained everything very clearly and you look great in front of the camera. Very professional and approachable.

I am in the media production industry and is a marketing executive by profession and I have seen/worked with a lot of pro. hosts. I thought I’ll drop you a line to let you know that you really are great! I am so happy to have found your channel on the Internet and that will surely add a lot of fun for me in this holiday season.

    Happy Holidays!
