How to use your square punch to make photo corners.

March 2, 2009

Decorative photo corners are popping up on cards and scrapbook pages everywhere. If you’re a fan of punches like I am, then you know that these big punches can add up. (Generally, there about 15 bucks a shot.) But get this…if you have a large square punch you don’t need them!

Step 1: To make a  decorative photo corner first slip your cardstock into your square punch like so, making sure it’s square on all sides, and punch. (I’m using a Marvy 3″ square punch.)

Step 2: Then slip the punched corner back into the punch, leaving about 3/8″ to 1/2″ exposed, and punch.

To finish up, use a decorative scissors to trim the ends. Soooo easy and you can make a variety of corners this way by using your  decorative scissors.

Also, don’t forget to try using that scalloped square punch you might have too. Pictured below is a corner I made using my 3″ Marvy scalloped square punch. I used the straight square first as in step 1 and then used the scalloped punch as in step 2. I trimmed the corners with my guillotine paper cutter. Voila…decorative photo corners without the expensive additional punches.
